Back to the Grind

I must apologize for my lack of blogging lately. With school back in full swing, free time is certainly something of the past, but I fully intend to try to stay more on top of things. (Especially now that I have plenty of stories to share from my little ones).

This summer I have studied and attended workshops on the Daily 5 and CAFE. Through this I've learned to let go of my "teacher created" displays and decorations and truly anchor all of my student's learning to everything in the room, including the walls. As the "two sisters" say I have to let go of the imperfection and "bareness" and wait to decorate as the students learn. That being said I'm waiting for us to put up a few more things in the room before I take and post pictures. But we are working hard and have accomplished a lot in the three short weeks we've been in school so hopefully it won't be too much longer.

Since I can't provide more information about my classroom, I thought showing some shots and video of the school would be nice for my friends back home to see. This is a video clip from one of the news stations in Raleigh shot on our first day of school. Let's just say the first day jitters intensified by about a million when I pulled into the parking lot full news crews, vans and cameras from stations around Raleigh!

Just The Beginning ...

Walnut Creek Elementary!
It's hard to believe the bittersweet fact that school is just around the corner. I'm so excited to be a member of the First Grade team at Walnut Creek Elementary. I've had the pleasure of meeting most of the First Grade Team through several meetings, trainings and such at the school so far. (Yeah, there are 7 of us on the First Grade Team!!!! Soo hard to believe for my SC friends I'm sure). We have not met our little ones yet,  but through our conversations I can already tell I will be working with some dynamite teachers, with so much passion!

Here is a link to the school's website should you be interested. ;)

And now for some pictures, I stole this one from the school website, but this is picture of the front of the school.

Here are a few of the pictures of my bare classroom, furniture and materials still being delivered so not much to do at this point

More pictures are to come, heading up to school to work tomorrow, wish me luck!

The Wedding

Jimmy and I were married on June 25, and the realization has yet to set in. We were extremely blessed to spend the special day with wonderful friends and family. Due to the nature of the day we didn't get around to speak to everyone there so I'll fill you in on a few details you may have missed....

The start of the day....

At the rehearsal dinner the night before Jimmy gave me my present with the instructions to open it up first thing in the morning and after I had I could call him. Being one who loves surprises I followed directions exactly, and surprisingly actually got a good night's sleep. When I opened my gift I was completely blown away...My amazing husband to be had given me a laptop. (Completely against our decision to not spend much money at all) Thinking I'm still asleep I find a note attached to the top which says open and watch the first video.....That's right Jimmy had filmed himself telling me messages throughout the day with instructions on which part of the day to watch it ...after bridal brunch....while getting ready....before ceremony. He certainly gets my vote for romantic man of the year!!! Sorry can't post the videos, don't think he'd appreciate it too much!

I then had a beautiful Bridal Brunch, hosted by Jimmy's wonderful Aunts at Nonnah's in the Vista. The food was so delicious and the company even better!

The rest of the day was just as you could imagine, all of us running around getting ready and calming the nerves. I must say we certianly had a stunningly beautiful bridal party!!
The ceremony was beautiful and once Jimmy and I stopped crying we got through the vows and are now Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Lekovich!

The reception that followed was certainly a fun wedding which we will never forget, especially the beginning, right after our first dance I went to step backwards to dance with my Dad, well with each step backwards I was actually stepping up higher and higher on my dress causing myself to almost fall backwards, somehow I gracefully saved myself and didn't fall but got some great pictures of the almost tumble! (Thanks Tara and Rob!)

It was a perfect evening, and I was so happy to share the night with my two "twins princesses" as my niece called us all weekend. Absolutely perfect!!
